TIL
One of the things I’ve learned today is that Ken from Street Fighter isn’t Caucasian—he just dyes his hair blonde.  Look at his eyebrows.  He’s actually 3/4’s Japanese and 1/4 Caucasian.  Also, I hate Ken.  I think it’s that smug look he’s always depicted with.  I loved using him as a practice dummy when I’d play Marvel vs. Capcom on my old...

That was fast.
My winter vacation is almost over.  The sad thing is, it hardly felt like I was on a break because I was so busy.  I wish I had more time to really relax.  I did have fun though, and it was nice seeing some of our Bay Area transplants again for the holidays.  But once this week’s over, it’s back to school for me.  Microbiology, I’m ready for you.

Scare-a-thon.
A family of three move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means of reconciling their past anguish. They move to a restored mansion, unaware that the home is haunted. Kris has been recommending that we watch American Horror Story for the longest time, but I kept forgetting to check it out.  I finally got around to it though and I’ve been on a marathon this whole evening.  I thought the trailer...

Est. 2008
I’m glad I keep this blog around.  Every now and then I seriously consider stopping, but then I look back at the archives and I realize that if it weren’t for these online records, I’d have forgotten about a hell of a lot of stuff.  Now here’s the part where I get all deep and retrospective-y but NOPE.  Well, okay, fine.  If I had to pick two words to describe 2011, operation reclamation, I choose...

sam: like this: http://tinyurl.com/7epjpvv
sam: well at the hospital they have something similar for their supplies
sam: and i was in between one of the sections looking for something for a patient when a nurse came in
sam: i guess she didn't hear me...
sam: basically i almost got smashed between shelves today. LOL
edward: ohhh
edward: did you try to fit yourself into a free shelf?
edward: NOOOOOO~! (JUMPS ONTO SHELF)

Bad choice.
Y’know how after a long day of work, you come home, sit down, but when you try to get up and move, you can’t?  Yeah, I’m stuck.  After being on your feet for 8 hours, sitting down in your very own chair feels amazing.  I’m really hungry though.  I wonder how long I’ll sit here before I can’t take it anymore.  It’s already been 30 minutes.

A little hard of hearing
patient: I love books. I particularly enjoy reading books about science fiction. What about you?
me: To be perfectly honest, I haven't read a book for pleasure in a long time. Mostly just web articles and news and such. Oh, and textbooks.
patient: ...
me: Something the matter?
patient: S-sex books?
me: Wha... TEXTbooks, sir. TEXTbooks.

Volunteering.
As I mentioned before, I volunteer as a Safety Rounder at one of the local hospitals, making sure that patients’ basic needs are taken care of while the nurses go about their general duties.  Well, today, after caring for one of the patients, I asked him—an elderly, frail looking man—if there was anything else that I could get for him before I left the room to go on to the next patient.  In one of...

Just. Keep. Studying.
It’s back.  Sickness is at my door.  I can feel it pounding, demanding to be let in.  My sinuses are already starting to become blocked, I feel ridiculously lethargic, and my throat’s a bit sore.  Sinusitis, you bitch.  I’m trying to fight it off by eating more fruits and veggies and by drinking more tea and orange juice, but I feel like my efforts to halt and reverse the progression...

Early morning musings.
It’s 4 in the morning and here I am, once again.  I need to stop going to sleep so late.  I don’t even know why I’m still up.  I’m not even really doing anything.  Honestly, I’ve just been chilling in my chair for the past 30 minutes, listening to tranquil music, and pondering random things, like how awesome it would be if my ceiling had a large moon roof panel and I could flip a switch, look up,...

PA.
I woke up around 8 yesterday morning despite not having class that day, but I idled around in bed until 10 because I couldn’t bring myself to leave the sanctuary my blankets provided from the icy coldness of my bedroom.  So I spent those couple of hours curled up, reveling in the warmth, gazing at my fish tank across the room, day dreaming about the past—specifically the portion of my...

The little things.
I was turning in an assignment today and the classroom stapler ran out of staples.  No big deal, right?  But it was one of those days: little things not going quite the way you want them to and those annoying little instances piling on fast.  You know the deal.  And I was already feeling like a ghost because I slept like shit last night.  So there I was, standing in front of the empty stapler...
